Kaitlyn draws her artistic inspirations from her time spent in the wilds of the western US. Those experiences are diverse and include everything from the plains of Wyoming; the temperate rainforests of the west coast; the deserts of Arizona, Redrock lands of Utah; the Rocky Mountains and rivers of Idaho and Alaska, and now northwest Montana. Her passion for fly fishing, hiking, and backpacking in the backcountry is what fuels her imagination. The colorful hues of the southwest desert landscape, the rich organic environs of western forests, and aquatic habitats that host her favorite trout form her current inspirations.

Oil paints are Kaitlyn’s medium of choice, and began painting with them in 2015. In addition to oils, she has also found success in watercolors and acrylics. Her subject matter is diverse: from portraits of people, animals, and fantasy; from the intricate details of the human face to the beauty and complexity of the fish she pursues. Outside of paints, she also engages with ceramics, with one of her sculptures on permanent display at her high school alma mater.

Outside of her artistic passions, Kaitlyn is a college student working toward a Bachelors of Science in Sustainability and Environmental Studies. She is also employed by the United States Forest Service, pursuing backcoutnry recreation and firefighting work.

Through her artistic passions, she has found connections with her mother, Allyson, and late grandfather, Dennis; both talented artists and lovers of the western landscapes and enviroments that charge their passions. She finds painting to be an essential part of being her authentic self, and feels greatful to be able to share her works with others.
